Open Source: The future

Open source is the only key to good future…

Making a photoblog

Tags: ,

As the Internet grows bigger and bigger every moment, doing things on the web gets more and more easy. But simultaneously, the clutter increases, and finding the right thing gets harder.

So, getting to the point, I was trying to make a photoblog, with some open source scripts and programs, as usual. Wordpress was definitely the answer for the blogging platform. The question was how to get the images in the feeds? Rather, I needed some slideshow type of theme, that could make my photoblog look awesome.

Now, a general question may arise – Why did I need a photoblog all of a sudden? Well, the answer to that is my passion for photography, which got reincarnated from the void, and I decided to start photographing again.

I searched google for the answer, and as a god, google fulfilled

all my wishes. I got to know about a plugin called Yet Another PhotoBlog (YAPB). That worked for the feed part. The next thing was to get the slideshow kind of thing. I searched and got some themes compatible with the YAPB plugin. All of this information was enough to set up my brand new photoblog. I used the Grain theme for the slideshow part. This theme has some awesome features, like reflections under the photograph.

With all these Open Source scripts, I finally set up my new photo blog at http://visioplanet.co.cc.
